Ardbeg Uigedael is named after Loch Uigedael, the lake in the grounds of the distillery Ardbeg which are the water is an important factor in the distilling process. The Uigedael a "vatted malt", bottled at 54.2% ABV without cold filtering. Ardbeg Uigedael has no age indication for the expression consists of various malts of different ages. Malts are used partly matured in ex-bourbon and partly on ex-sherry casks. When the composition is a specific odor and taste profile is created which is characteristic of the Uigedael.
Color: Black, bronze-gold
Aroma: Deep and round. The combination of chocolate and caramel barley sugar with dates, raisins and smooth sherry ensures ultimate fragrance. After this first impression is the flavor complemented
leather and linseed oil. By the addition of water enters the sweet of malt and honey to
forward, where you hints of berries and a smoky sweetness of good roasted vegetables can perceive.
Taste: A silky sweet and oily texture. Initially sweet in the mouth, as fruity cake and syrup, followed by a smoky honey-barbecue flavor with a hint of fresh olives.
Finish: Very long.
One of my favorites when it comes to the peated single malts. Adding a small dash of water gives this whisky even bigger scale of taste and nose. Very good value for the price.
Definitely a very particular dram, an unique taste. Better leave it for the end of your line-up, the combination of medicinal and peat lingers for a very long time. It doesn´t need it but a drop of water (or more) will open the underlying delicate aroma´s. One of a kind
Nose
sweet peat, smoky grass and tar. Spices and smoked salty licorice.
Taste
Extremely powerful and full bodied whisky. Again, smoky tar, shell fish, grass (hay), smoked salmon, licorice, baked apples and walnuts.
Finish
Warm, long and lingering with mixed pepper corns, heavily smoked aniseed and fennel. A finish can not possibly be longer than this.
Comments
Very nice whisky indeed! One of the best Ardbegs and no need to buy the more expensive versions released every year in my opinion. Stick with the 10 year old, the Corrywreckan and this Uigeadail.
(Rating interval 88-90)

If you thought Laphroaid 10 was peaty/smoky...think again! First time I tasted Uigeadail it turned my world upside down. I might be exaggerating but I tell my friends that the first time felt like having a nail shot through your tongue. I'm still trying to find something "stronger"...
Only four stars because it has a little too much smoke and peat for my taste. I usually enjoy it with a small cube of ice which can melt slowly or a small dash of iced water.
Een van de betere whisky's onder de €100. Een lekkere mix van peaty whisky van bourbon en sherry vaten op vatsterkte.
Nose
Peat, fudgy caramel, cranberry, citrus, cherry, orange, a little salt and herbs like basil.
Taste
Earthy peat, caramel, raspberry, lime, espresso, dark chocolate, orange and eucalyptus.
Finish
Peat, caramel, espresso and eucalyptus. I'm not really noticing the sherry in the finish.
Big whisky!
Loads of smoke and spice with the high ABV with plenty of rich vanilla sweetness. One of the best peated single malts on the market.
Widely respected, one of the best whiskies in the world.
