Ardnamurchan Distillery has put together a whole new whiskey. Maclean's Nose is a mountainside near the distillery that rises from the sea. This slope is therefore depicted on the label of this whiskey. A label that, in keeping with the distillery's philosophy, is printed on paper made from the remains of the grains after they have been ground to produce the whisky.
Maclean's Nose is a blend of which more than 70% of the composition is single malt, from only 2 different distilleries on the Scottish west coast. 1 is easy to guess, the vast majority, but unfortunately we cannot reveal the others. A fair amount of content is aged in ex-sherry hogsheads. The other part in ex-bourbon barrels
The grain whiskey used also comes from only 1 distillery, located on the Scottish southwest coast.
Taste note:
Color: orange-copper to gold
Fragrance: sea salt with toasted orange peel, lime marmalade with strawberry syrup and old-fashioned coal bunkers/kits. Give it a few minutes and the combination of pickled fruit and sea influences becomes a delicious mix.
Taste: puffed pearl barley with white chocolate, rice flan with pickled fruit with covering Chantilly cream and Viennetta ice cream with chocolate. But also burlap with burnt heather and more slightly smoky influences. A bonbon with a lot of taste.
Finish: friendly but tasteful, where the light peat smoke combines wonderfully with salty influences and oak.
