France has a long tradition of rum making. French agricultural rum has the special property of being made directly from the distillation of fermented sugar cane juice. This makes them powerful rums with a particularly complex aromatic palette.

To develop this 7th edition of Christian Drouin's Expérimental range, they turned to the French island of Martinique and one of the island's oldest and most iconic distilleries. JM Angels is a 10 year old Pays d'Auge calvados that has spent an extra 8 months in 6 old French rum casks that previously contained VSOPs from the great JM rums.

“ It is a rather tender and greedy calvados that we have chosen for this collaboration with the world of agricultural rums. The rum cask gives the calvados a vanilla caress and an extra roundness. JM Angels is without a doubt the most delicate finish we have done in this range with aged rum casks.”

Tasting Note:

The nose opens with notes of vanilla, brown sugar and toast before releasing aromas of roasted apple and apricot. The palate is straightforward, with a nice balance between power and roundness, and you can taste apple peel and pips in the aftertaste.
