This vineyard's journey began with the original winemakers of the Luca family, who determinedly pursued their dream of their own winery despite significant obstacles. Even through the most difficult of times, including a deportation to a Siberian labor camp during the Soviet regime, the family held on to their passion and maintained their wine knowledge and skills for 40 years at a state-run winery. After the collapse of the Soviet Union, the younger generations took over and began to revive the family business. In 2011, they proudly launched the first Carpe Diem wines and from that moment on they set their sights squarely on the future. Today, the talented winemaker and estate manager, Ion Luca Jr, is responsible for all facets of the family business. With his expertise and leadership, they have successfully exported their wines to 12 countries on 3 continents. They proudly carry the title of the most awarded family vineyard in Moldova.
