Dom Vicente Encruzado Na Talha is a beautiful white wine from Portugal. This wine is made from 100% Encruzado grape and has an alcohol content of 14%. The Encruzado grape comes from the Dão wine region, you don't actually find it elsewhere. The winemakers have their hands full with this grape. It is not easy to make wine with it, for example it oxidizes quickly. Yet the Encruzado is regarded as the most promising white grape from Dão. This cultivar, which has a moderate production, has a high alcohol content and has the ability to maintain almost a perfect balance between sugars and acidity. Made with a little effort, but with a lot of love for the real wine lover.

Tasting notes

The wine turns beautiful lemon yellow in the glass with light fruit aromas, associated with very mineral notes typical of the Encruzado. In the mouth it highlights minerality and acidity. It can accompany different types of dishes such as seafood, all fish dishes or even lighter meat dishes. Please serve at a temperature of 8 to 10ºC. The bottles should be stored horizontally in a place sheltered from light, clean, ventilated and with normal conditions of mild temperature and constant humidity.

Dao wine region

Dão is located in the southern part of Beira Alta and south of the Douro River. Two important rivers flow in the area: the Dão and the Mondego. The area is around the cities of Viseu, Guarda and Coimbra. Wine growing is mainly practiced on terraces on the slopes. Vines are found from 200-600 meters above sea level. The climate is temperate Mediterranean with warm dry summers and cold moist winters. On average, 1000 millimeters of rain falls per year, especially in the period from November to March. The climate of the Daõ region is influenced by both the Atlantic Ocean in the west and the Spanish Meseta in the east. The soil is infertile and consists mainly of weathered granite. In the south of the Dão you will find slate on which beautiful wines can be produced. The river valleys consist mainly of fertile clay and sand. Thanks to this area, many wines are created for us all to enjoy.
