The Mermaid

Scotland's Glen Scotia is launching the 'Icons of Campbeltown' series, of which the Single Malt Scotch whiskey 12YO 'The Mermaid' No1 of 5 is the first version. This beautiful bottle was designed in collaboration with artist Joel Holtzman (known from Lucasfilm, Marvel, Disney, Macmillan). The bottle was inspired by the mermaids that were seen several times in the Campbeltown area. Possibly no coincidence that the increase in mermaid sightings coincided with the success of distilling in the ^19th century. This Single Malt Scotch whiskey has undergone an 8-month finish on Palo Cortado Sherry Casks, after which the whiskey is bottled at a cask strength of 54.10%.

Campbelltown

The legendary town of Campbeltown in Scotland is central to the launch of the 'Icons of Campbeltown Series'. In the middle of Campbeltown stands an iconic cross where many stories used to be shared and celebrations celebrated. Several mysterious legends were carved on this cross long ago by unknown hands. Although these legends have always lived among the people of Campbeltown, Glen Scotia wants to share these stories with the rest of the world.

Glen Scotia Distillery

Glen Scotia is a small distillery in Campbeltown. The typical spicy and maritime whiskeys for which Campbeltown is known have been distilled here since 1832. In 2021, the distillery was crowned both 'Scottish distillery of the year' and as distiller of the best single malt whiskey in the world. The dedication, craftsmanship and determination of the Glen Scotia team is an inspiration to everyone in the area. Glen Scotia wants to put the distillery location, Campbeltown, back in the spotlight with this first edition of the 'Icons of Campbeltown' series.

• Nose: A fruity maritime dram with seaweed, toffee, tarte tatin and orange.
• Taste: A creamy texture with a slightly sweet and maritime character.
