The Kerner variety is a hybrid of Schiava and Riesling, created in Weinsberg (Germany) around 1930. It prefers the light, gravelly and sandy soils of the higher, sunny slopes in the middle of the Valle Isarco. Despite their late ripening period, these grapes make for an acclaimed full-bodied and tasty wine.
