During the AWC in Vienna (the world's largest recognized wine competition), this Chardonnay Spätlese 2019 took first place in the Chardonnay category up to 13%! So you can safely consider this wine as the best Chardonnay in the world!
Country: Germany
Region: Palatinate
Type: White
Year: 2019
Grape variety: Chardonnay
Alcohol: 12.35%
Colour: Light golden yellow and straw yellow tones.
Smell: Beautiful aromas of peach, pineapple and almonds, in combination with coffee and high-quality toasted notes. Lots of minerals too.
Taste: Elegant and surprisingly exciting for a Chardonnay; very fresh on the attack and rich on the aftertaste
Application: Definitely a meal wine due to its fullness. Delicious with spicy fish and veal dishes.
Verdict: Refreshing, fine fruit and refined barrel aging (!) give this wine its inimitable character. Gooseberries with a lot of exoticism such as passion fruit, pineapple and lemongrass flow together perfectly in the scent. The wine gives a lot of volume, but is still extremely delicate and fresh due to the mild acidity.
