This rare version of Yoichi single malt is part of the “Nikka Discovery” series: an inside look at the various experiments during the whiskey making process at Nikka. Due to the focus on the use of yeasts, this expression is reminiscent of an estery aroma reminiscent of Ginjyo sake.

Nose – Refined, distinguished. In the first nose, a spicy, salty and burnt peat clearly dominates. When letting it breathe, fruit, flowers and mint make their appearance, which accelerates the aroma palette. Gradually it becomes more and more milky, tropical and medicinal.

Taste – Firm, robust. The first sensation does justice to the spicy, salty and empirical that you also recognized in the nose. It is reminiscent of a field of barley sprinkled by the salty sea air. The more earthy and rooted continuation dumps blocks of peat on the tongue. The ending is again more floral and fruity.

Finish– Convincing length. Unexpectedly, the aftertaste first invites us to happily bite into bunches of white grapes. Plum and pulp flavors bring softer notes. The scent, which evokes a volatile peat, envelops a fine layer of licorice on the taste buds.
