Teeling Pot Still Wonders of Wood 2 – Virgin Portuguese Oak

The second edition of the Wonders of Wood bottlings consists of Teeling's single pot still made from a recipe of 50% malted barley and 50% unmalted barley that is triple distilled at the distillery in Dublin, and fully aged in virgin Portuguese oak casks.

Portuguese oak is native to the Iberian Peninsula and has a higher tannin content than other oaks commonly encountered in the whiskey industry. When used to mature whiskey it produces a distinct savory marmalade flavor that combines nicely with the warming notes of tobacco and pepper that are unique to Irish Whiskey.

Fragrance: Opens with citrus notes, then notes of ancient spices, leather and cloves develop.

Taste: Toasted oak, savory marmalade combined with peppery spices and nutmeg.

Finish: The finish of the Wonders of Wood #2 is warming with tobacco, pepper, vanilla and malt.

Extra Information about Teeling – Dare to be different

The Teeling family has been involved in Irish Whiskey since 1782 when the current generation's great-great-grandfather, Walter Teeling, had his distillery on Marrowbowe Lane. In 1987 John Teeling opened the Cooley Distillery and in 2007 the Kilbeggan Distillery. These were sold to Beam Global in 2012.

In 2015, John's sons, Jack and Stephen, opened the new Teeling Distillery at Newmarket in the Dublin Liberties. A stone's throw from Walter Teeling's former distillery in the middle of "The Golden Triangle". Dublin's historic distilling district. Dublin's first new distillery in over 125 years. And the first working distillery in almost 50 years.

All Teeling whiskey is bottled without any additives and without cold filtering at a minimum strength of 46% alc.
