Tasting notes
Gevorkian Amphora Red Dry turns cherry red in the glass and has a light, pleasant, sweet with berry notes, balanced acidity and berry aftertaste of medium length. The aroma is pronounced by shades of ripe berries: blueberries, blackcurrants, as well as notes of plums. We recommend that you pair the wine with grilled red meat, cheeses, salads and fruit. Please serve at a temperature of 18-20°C.
Armenia and Wine
In ancient Armenia, monastics used a traditional ancient wine-making technology, the distinctive feature of which was aging in clay amphorae called KARAS. Brewing in Karases ensures that fermentation takes place at lower temperatures. The wine became more subtle, velvety and had a coherent aroma, so exquisite that the takarapets (pourers) who supplied wine to the royal cellars bought tons of the drink from the wine-making monks. “GEVORKIAN” AMPHORAE WINE COLLECTION is a line of wines made with ancient monastic technology. They are aged for six months in old karases that the winemakers collect from abandoned vineyards.
