Revolution Solar
This is a very nice declassified wine from Corbières. It is therefore a wine that is not produced entirely according to the traditionally established rules. This is done to offer a beautiful wine at a lower price. So it is also a bit of a cult wine. Because when the rules are followed, there are procedures and/or grape varieties that a winemaker must use/choose, which can increase the price of that wine considerably. So this is an accessible top wine produced by Château Grand Moulin.
Made from the grape varieties Marselan (70%) and Shiraz (30%). Contains sulfites. When you look at the glass, the first thing you notice is the color: the wine is a beautiful dark Bordeaux red. During the tasting you will discover notes of very concentrated dried fruit and a slightly mineral touch. It is an amazing glass, especially when you consider the price of this wine.
THE BRAND
“Revolution Solaire” is a tribute to the generosity of the Mediterranean sun. The native varieties come from the sunniest vineyards of the Languedoc. Well adapted to the Mediterranean climate, they are grown on gravel terraces located 30 km west of the sea. These provide sufficient humidity and fresh breezes to the vines.
TERROIR
The Pays d'Oc benefits from the Mediterranean climate. With its coastline bordering the region to the south, it ensures hot and dry summers which in turn guarantee perfect ripeness. On the other hand, the Black Mountain provides enough humidity and cool temperatures for the vineyards to produce grapes that are packed with fruity aromas. The effect of terroir is very noticeable in this region due to the amazing variety of wine growing areas all producing expressions of grape varieties that are unique. The Syrah and Marselan selected to make this premium red wine come from Lézignan-Corbières, a small town in the heart of the Languedoc. Here the dry wind called “Cers” ensures a moderately warm weather climate and protects the vines against diseases. The grapes are grown on south-facing gravel terraces. These thin soils form a terroir with very high quality potential.
PREPARATION
Each variety of grape is harvested and vinified separately. The grapes are picked, sorted and destemmed before cold maceration, which extracts the premium aromas. The fermentation takes place in small stainless steel tanks that ensure precise winemaking. The floating “skins” are regularly pushed into the fermenting wine. This traditional technique, also called “pigeage”, allows the extraction of elegant tannins, beautiful colors and complex aromas. The Syrah is aged under the influence of French oak for 5 months before blending and bottling.
WINEMAKER'S NOTE
Lovely deep red with purple hints. This lively and supple red wine contains the flavors of ripe plum and blueberry, and a light hint of tobacco. The taste is round and silky, with a full structure. During the long lasting aftertaste you will enjoy delicious ripe tannins and chocolate notes.
WINE AND FOOD PAIRING
Enjoy this wine optimally at room temperature, with braised lamb, chops, ratatouille and marinated vegetables.
