Product description

0.06 ltr 45%

With this bottling Rampur has a real world first! The first Indian whisky that is finished on Indian wine barrels. This rich whisky has first matured on bourbon barrels and then on Cabernet Sauvignon barrels from India. The result is a fruity whisky with complex herbs in a perfect balance. The whisky is not cold filtered, only limited available.

Tasting notes:
Nose: Typical tropical fruity notes that Rampur is known for, complemented by apricot, blackberry and plum followed by a light hint of tobacco and spices.
Taste: Velvety smooth, honeyed sweetness highlighted by spicy oak, vanilla and balanced with Indian red wine dryness.
Finish: Nice finish of dried fruit complimented by an aftertaste of vanilla and honey rounded off with a light, dry spiciness.

At the foot of the Himalayas, in the north of India, lies the town of Rampur. Rampur is known for its rich heritage and royal traditions. Distillation has been taking place here since 1943 at the Rampur Distillery. An important place, where the climate plays a very important role. The Himalayas offer completely different climatic conditions throughout the year, which gives Rampur an extra dimension and depth.

Rampur Indian Single Malt Whisky is distilled in traditional copper pot stills in India’s oldest distillery, built in 1943 with 75 years of distilling experience. It is a tribute to the Maharajas and the rich Indian history. The Maharajas used to rule over the Indian kingdoms. The logo with the two sabres refers to this time.

Due to the high temperatures, Indian whisky matures significantly faster than, for example, Scotch or Irish whisky. It is made in the same way, but due to the warm and humid climate, the Angels' Share (the evaporation of the whisky from the cask) in India is as much as 11 to 12% per year, while in Scotland it is only 2% per year.
