Ardbeg Single Islay Malt is seen as one of the most complex and at the same time harmonious whiskeys. Ten Years Old is the basis of the Ardbeg range. After 10 years of maturation in ex-bourbon casks, the whiskey bottled at 46% ABV without cold filtering. The characteristic peat, although clearly present but in perfect balance with the natural sweetness and not predominant in the taste.
Color: Light gold
Aroma: An extraordinary balance and depth. A sweet seductive mix of toffee and chocolate, cinnamon and medicinal phenols. On the one hand you can smell fresh citrus and vegetable nut with white wine, on the other hand are melon, pear, some creaminess, smoked fish and sea breezes (iodine) above. At the time the strong showing decrease coffee is moved to the foreground.
Taste: First, lightly seasoned, full of flavor and eventually dry. After the first nice sweetness follows a deep peat note with smoky Tabasco and strong espresso coffee with a syrupy, salmiakachtig salt sequel.
Finish: The tones of broken turf with a sweet character of malted grain stuck in a harmonious and long finish.
Nose: Starts with a touch of vanilla which introduces you to strong and heavy peat with citrus salt.
Taste: Just a great balance of sweetness and smoke. Vanilla is mixed with lemon and followed by heavy smoke.
Finish: Sea salted smoke with hints of caramel. And did I say it's long? Yes, loooong.
Balance: This is one of the best balanced whiskies I've tasted.

Erg lekkere (en over het algemeen de goedkoopste van de Ardbeg-familie) whisky die hoewel vrij zacht aanvoelt wel een goede peatexplosie geeft in de mond! Like? Try Uegedaal en de Corryvrecken. Both have à higer price, but when you taste one, it enriches you! Be à Ardbeggian :)
Nose
Peat, toffee, salt, orange, gingerbread and citrus.
Taste
Peat, toffee, orange, salt and pepper.
Finish
Peat, toffee, salt, orange, pepper and gingerbread.

Hadn't tasted the Ardbeg 10 for a couple of years until I opened my current bottle, but it's still one of my favourite 'introductory' standard bottlings.
