Review La Gelsomina Etna Rosso
Color Ruby red with garnet sparkle
Scent Intense but elegant scent of red fruit and vanilla
Flavor Full of flavour, round, cherries, blackberries, small pepper and slightly mineral
Application With game, red meat and mature cheeses
Verdict A powerful wine but very elegant. Delicious ripe red fruit, slightly spicy and slightly mineral from the lava of the volcano Etna. This is the typical character of Etna Rosso
Note After pressing the grapes, the wine is placed in stainless steel barrels for two months. Then partly in tonneaux and French oak barrels between 12 and 15 months. Finally, the wine matures in bottle for 4 months before it is released. The bottom of the Etna volcano is a mix of lava and clay. This is the result of numerous eruptions that have occurred over the centuries, allowing the dust to settle on the fields and crystallize the magma. This has made it a place with absolutely unique mineral characteristics, where native varieties of the volcano are planted at 550 meters above sea level. These are Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, Carricante and Moscato dell'Etna.
