This third release in the Discovery series launched in 2021 as part of the build-up to Nikka Whiskey's ninetieth anniversary. This version was created by blending various grain whiskeys produced at the Miyagikyo, Nishinomiya (no distillery has been distilled there since 1998), Moji and the Satsuma Tsukasa distilleries.
The whiskey contains a subtle combination of fresh notes and maturity. Nikka the Grain shows an incredibly beautiful balance during tasting. The strong harmony is probably created by the beautiful symbiosis of the individual parts of this special whisky.
Rich, soft, vanilla, nuts and oak.
Tasting note Nikka The Grain:
Nose : Fresh and complex. The first impression is beeswax that smoothly merges with aromatic plants (verbena, chamomile) and fresh fruits (pineapple and mirabelle plum). Then the scent opens up and slightly roasted vanilla and somewhat fuller aromas emerge.
Appearance : Gold colored
Taste : Rich yet slim. The creamy (almond milk and coconut) and vanilla opening is also full of energy. The slender mid-drunk lets in delicate licorice before rounding off on soft spices (cinnamon and ginger).
Finish : Well balanced, creamy. In line with the taste palette, the notes of grains and aromatic plants also return to the foreground in the finish. The delicious aftertaste goes back and forth between mint, acacia honey and strong floral flavors (brem, mimosa).
