Nose: Light peat with mild flint tones, softened by sweet, ripe, creamy Speyside malt. Hints of heathery herbs.
Taste: The smokiness is clearly present but is still soft because it is tempered by a toffee sweetness and a mildly soft spiciness of oak.
Color: Barley gold.

Old Ballantruan is fired in the prestigious Speyside Glenlivet whiskey region from "heavily peated barley" and has a unique sweet smoky character. Old Ballantruan is a rarity, as the Speyside Glenlivet region produces only a few "peated" whiskeys. Old Ballantruan owes its name to the source of the same name from which the water is used for the preparation of this malt.
