Taste description: The Bold is made with Scottish peat. Paul John gets that peat from the famous whiskey island of Islay. In the nose peat, honey, spices, vanilla and fruit. Waves with flavors of honey, oak, spice, fruit and smoke. The peat remains nicely present in the aftertaste with notes of fruit and herbs around it.

Additional Information: The Paul John Distillery is located in tropical Goa and is part of John Distilleries. The Single Malts came on the market in 2012. For their whiskeys they use an Indian “Six-Row Barley”. It grows at the feet of the Himalayas. Compared to the “Two-Row Barley” they use elsewhere, they get a fruitier and oilier spirit. Ripening in the tropical climate of Goa, with its high temperatures and humidity, is many times faster than in the colder Scotland. The Angel Share of their whiskeys is therefore between 8-10%. Some of their storage is underground for a cooler and calmer maturation of their barrels. For their smoky whiskeys they import the peat from Scotland. Off the Isle of Islay and away from Aberdeen.
