The year: The winter was marked by heavy rainfall. In spring, temperatures were almost constantly low, which slowed down the development of the plant. The summer was dry and hot, with light rain at the end of September. These conditions allowed the plant to ripen well, which was a harbinger of very elegant wines.
Grape Varieties: With 23 different varieties recognised in our old vines, some of the most well-known varieties are Touriga Nacional, Touriga Franca, Tinta Roriz, Tinta Amarela, Sousão, Tinta Barroca and Tinto Cão.
Tasting notes Port Vista Alegre Colheita 2013 :
Color : Dark golden color, with brownish nuances.
Nose : Balanced and elegant wine, with notes of fig, delicate dry fruit and vanilla, thanks to the maturation in oak barrels.
Taste : Full-bodied wine, well-balanced and with a great texture. Taste of raisins, honey and chocolate. Long and persistent aftertaste.
Viticulture: These vines come from the Baixo Corgo and Cima Corgo sub-regions and are planted in old vines and terraces with different exposures and altitudes.
Vinification: Grapes, from a single harvest, are harvested manually in small transport crates and made into wine using the traditional port method. After partial destemming, the grapes are crushed by foot in stone presses. Fermentation of the must takes place under controlled temperatures and is interrupted by the addition of brandy. This wine, as produced, has great ageing potential.
Maturation: Wine from a single harvest, matured in oak barrels for a minimum period of 7 years. The year of bottling is indicated on the label.
Drinking: Pleasant with dried fruit: almonds, raisins, peaches and apricots. It also goes well with sweet desserts, with eggs or cakes with dried fruit, coffee and vanilla. However, it is also a drink that can be perfectly enjoyed on its own, chilled or as a conclusion to a meal. Since Port is a natural product, there is a good chance that deposits will form in the bottle.
Conservation: Bottle upright at a constant temperature and protected from light. After opening, consume preferably within 1 to 4 months.
