COLOR: The color is somewhere between deep amber with dark red sparkles and warm rosewood or a freshly opened wild chestnut.

NOSE: Mild and dry, yet rich. Fruit overtones suggest sweet malt bread with sultanas, dates and dried figs. Underneath, a slightly mineral hint of lime and salty notes of brine, salt crystals as on the railing of a sailing ship on the high seas. All this on a slightly fruity, winey base, with a hint of pipe tobacco. Add a splash of water to activate the smokiness.

BODY: A semi-full to full body.

TASTE: A creamy soft mouthfeel creates an intense flavor that starts off richly sweet and then quickly turns into slightly salty, smoky and fruity. With pleasant sweet hints of sultanas and figs in the mid palate, accompanied by slowly emerging peppery spice and smokiness. Undiluted it is rich and intense, but with a little water it becomes slightly sweeter, fruitier and more spicy.

FINISH: Long, warming and slightly dry, followed by a familiar pepperiness and a very attractive smoky fruitiness.
