Seduced by the floral character of Moscatel wine, The Lakes Distillery has unveiled this Moscatel cask-finished expression of The One blended whisky.

An uplifting and fragrant whisky, The One Moscatel is finished in hand-selected Moscatel wine casks from southern Spain. It complements a range of cask aged whiskeys that demonstrate the influence oak and cask finishes have on the flavor enhancement of a unique blended whisky.

Similar in style to PX, though less sweet, the Moscatel wine is made with grapes from the small town of Chipiona, in the province of Cádiz in Andalusia. Taking advantage of the Soleo process – drying the grapes in the sun before pressing – the resulting reduction in water and relative change in sugar content alters the viscosity, taste and aroma of the juice, bringing fresh and floral flavors and characters into the vessel arise.

Based on The Lakes Single Malt, the blended whiskey has been expertly created by The Lakes' Whiskeymaker Dhavall Gandhi, using select Scotch grain and malt whiskeys from the Highlands, Speyside and Islay. The influence of the Moscatel cask makes for a delicate and fragrant whisky, perfect for enjoying neat or in a blend on a clear spring evening.
