Voskevaz Areni Red Dry is a delicious red wine from the Vayots Dzor region with an alcohol content of 13%. The wine is made from the indigenous Areni Noir grape variety. This grape is ancient and originates from the south of Armenia. A quality grape that is regarded as the best in the country. For years, the Areni Noir in Armenia was mainly used to distill brandy. But now that viticulture is recovering, many winemakers are turning to their unique Areni Noir to produce quality wines.
Tasting notes
Voskevaz Areni Red Dry has a light red color. A strikingly spicy scent of oriental spices in a horse stable. Fresh berries and cherries on the palate. Elegant, juicy and very spicy. Preferably leave it in the refrigerator for fifteen minutes before drinking and then serve with a grilled veal entrecôte, Gruyère or Camembert. Cheers!
The Winery
Voskevaz Winery is the oldest winery in Armenia. Founded in 1932 during the Soviet era, privatized in 2004 and completely modernized since then. Under the leadership of a young Russian winemaker who learned the trade in Spain, Voskevaz makes modern wines from indigenous Armenian grape varieties. Just like in neighboring Georgia, Voskevaz has recently started making 'orange wines' again, made in 'Karas', the Armenian word for large earthenware pots that are buried in the cellar of the winery.
